This was a great discovering. Traveling with some friends through Costa Brava and after staying in Peratallada medieval village for a couple of days, we decided go north. Very soon found Torroella de Montgri. The village is small but has plenty of local shops and art exhibitions (don’t miss Atrium gallery by JC Roca Sans).
There are differents ways to hike the Montgri mountain and find the castle. The castle is visible from far long, the same happens when you arrive. You’ll see the mediterranean sea, Medes Islands, Balear Islands (in very clear days) and Ter river crossing the pretty Emporda fields. I heard Lance Armstrong owns a house there and trained for competitions.
If you have time, don’t miss Medes Islands, a beautiful trip by ship to see the great coral reserve. If you like diving, there are lot s of dive centers and hotels in L’Estartit.
