I was staying at the Mulberry Hotel right next to the park, so I was lucky to see this park at morning, evening, afternoon and night. Full of life all day long, and full of hidden corners where you can find people reading, eating, taking a nap, playing cards with or without money, chinese people playing unknown games for me and looking reaaly focused on winning.
Every morning very early you can see old people stretching, walking, running or making thai chi and other asian ancient activities. Also young people learning the old style way of doing things, playing basketball or running with their iPod.
Highly recommended even if you’re staying far from chinatown, as long as you can visit Canal St. or Little Italy. Downtown is also close, so you can really spend one day visiting south Manhattan.
