We spent just one week in Istambul and went three times to this marvellous restaurant, because food was really good and authentic, and the waiters the most welcoming people. We strongly recommend the lamb testy kebab; a dish from Central Anatolia and the Mid-Western Black Sea region, consisting of lamb meat and vegetables cooked in a clay pot or jug over fire (testi means jug in Turkish). The pot is sealed with bread dough or foil and is broken when serving.
The big surprise comes after the meal, when they invite you to visit the cistern from the 4th century located beneath the restaurant. It consists of four vaulted chambers that were once part of a palace.
And don’t go back to the hotel before having two Painkiller cocktails for a good sleep!
